On the Divide (90 mins., 2020) follows three Latinx people living in McAllen, Texas who, despite their different views, are connected by the most unexpected of places: the last abortion clinic on the U.S./Mexico border. As threats to the clinic and their personal safety mount, they are forced to make decisions they never could have imagined. Post-screening discussion with filmmakers Maya Cueva and Leah Galant with Elizabeth Sepper (Professor of Law, University of Texas at Austin). Moderated by Cynthia Lopez (Executive Director, New York Women in Film & TV).
Presented by the NYU Center for Media, Culture, & History; co-sponsored by the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network at NYU Law; the NYU Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and the NYU Center for the Study of Gender & Sexuality.
