Cut, Copy, Queer: A Zine-Making Workshop

Join us for a hands-on zine-making workshop exploring the DIY tradition of zines as a space for creativity, self-expression, and queer and feminist storytelling. Through drawing, writing, collage, and found materials, we’ll each create an eight-page mini-zine from a single sheet of paper. No experience is needed. Just come ready to experiment, make a mess, and tell a story. Everyone will leave with a finished mini-zine of their own.

Zahra’a Nasralla is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Queens. With a background in architecture and industrial design, their practice weaves together cultural storytelling, communal care, and hands-on making. Teaching is an important part of their work, guided by a decolonial pedagogy that challenges dominant narratives, values reflection and multiple ways of knowing, and treats process as just as important as the final result. From teaching to building spaces for belonging, Zahra’a approaches design as a way to create, connect, reflect, and learn. They have taught at Pratt Institute and currently serve as Studio Coordinator at Mariam Issoufou Architects.

This workshop is one of three sessions designed to support submissions to our Spring 2027 Exhibition Library. Submission is not required to participate, but workshop participants are encouraged to consider submitting their work. More information can be found here.
